For over half a century, PABCO® Gypsum has helped build neighborhoods, schools, hospitals, and businesses across North America. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we honor the employees, customers, suppliers, and contractors whose dedication has made our success possible. We also recognize the unwavering support and long-term vision of the Anderson/Lucchetti family, whose ownership has helped guide PABCO Gypsum’s growth while maintaining the values that define our company culture: service, quality and relationships.

PABCO Gypsum’s story began in the early 1970s with a single gypsum plant in Newark, California. From day one, our goal was not only to manufacture dependable wallboard products, but also to back them with the kind of exceptional, personal customer service people remember.

Five years later, we expanded by acquiring a gypsum plant and quarry in Las Vegas, Nevada. Those two facilities have since grown into powerhouse manufacturing operations.

Over the decades, PABCO has continuously invested in manufacturing through advanced production technology, automation, and quality control systems that enable our plants to consistently produce high-performing gypsum panels. The Las Vegas plant, built upon a company-owned gypsum deposit, provides a unique advantage by allowing raw materials to move directly from our quarry into manufacturing, ensuring exceptional quality control from start to finish.

As the needs of architects, contractors, builders, and building owners have evolved, we’ve evolved with them. Our expanding portfolio has grown well beyond traditional wallboard to include specialized high-performance fire-resistant, mold-and moisture-resistant, abuse-resistant, exterior glass mat, shaftliner, lightweight, and specialty gypsum panels.

QUIETROCK JOINS PABCO GYPSUM
A significant milestone in our history came in 2013 with the introduction of the QuietRock® line of products. The addition of QuietRock’s patents to Pacific Coast Building Product’s patent portfolio brought groundbreaking constrained-layer damping technology to PABCO and positioned the company as a leader in acoustic performance. Today, QuietRock products are specified in healthcare facilities, multifamily housing, hotels, educational institutions, commercial buildings, and residences across the country.

The construction industry looks very different today than it did in 1976. Advances in fire protection, indoor air quality, building acoustics, moisture management, and sustainable construction have transformed how buildings are designed and built. PABCO Gypsum has remained at the forefront of these changes by developing products that help builders meet increasingly demanding building codes, environmental standards, and performance expectations, while providing tools and technical expertise that support the design and construction industries.

Yet, for all the new technology and advanced machinery, the core of PABCO Gypsum hasn’t changed. Our business has always been about people. As a family-owned company, we have built our culture on mutual respect, integrity, and lasting relationships.
